Budget Payment Update

Though the 101 day wait is over, a new wait has begun for the day care programs, social service agencies, and many other groups needing payment for the services they provided during the Pennsylvania budget impasse.

According to the state Treasury Department, a record number of checks and electronic deposits (1,400 checks, 3,000 deposits) were approved on October 12. These checks and deposits total about $3 billion.

Have you received money for the state, or are you still waiting? Let us know in the comments!

UPDATE (1:14 PM) - According to Capitol Ideas, money is being disbursed based on need: in other words, day care centers and social service providers should be receiving it first. Direct deposits should hit accounts tomorrow, and checks should begin arriving in the next few days. The Treasury Department expects to have sent all checks by early next week.
