A group of local residents and advocates called on state legislators to fully restore cuts proposed by Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in the state budget during a news conference outside the Media Courthouse Thursday afternoon.
“Right now, the ‘pie’ is growing in Pennsylvania,” said Marianne Bellesorte, senior director of policy at PathWays PA, a nonprofit organization that provides services and advocacy for women, children and families in the Greater Philadelphia region. “We are looking at ways to share the pie with people who need it because right now the slices are too small.”
Bellesorte said the “pie” was a comparison for the state’s general fund. She said the general fund “has been increasing beyond projections in recent months, and it is important that the revenue go toward investments in Pennsylvania’s families and Pennsylvania’s future.” To read the full article click here.
