Today is Early Childhood Action Day!

Today hundreds of early childhood advocates are in Harrisburg urging legislators to support early childhood investments.

If you feel that early childhood education is important, please urge your legislators to make early childhood investments a priority. While the Commonwealth is under financial pressures, we cannot afford to cut children out of the budget. Please encourage your legislators to explore all options for balancing the budget, including raising revenue.

Early childhood investments not only benefit Pennsylvania's children and families, but also contribute to the Commonwealth's overall economic health. For every additional dollar we spend through Child Care Works and Keystone STARS, $2.17 is circulated in the state's economy. For every additional dollar we spend through Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts and Head Start State Supplemental, $2.10 is circulated in the state's economy.

Some suggest that we should rely on state budget cuts to make up the revenue gap. However, cuts alone are not the answer. Please contact your legislators today and urge them to take a balanced approach to the budget this year.
