Take a Moment to Support the CLASS Act

The American Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (AAHSA) is sponsoring a call-in day for constituents to contact their legislators regarding the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act.

Under CLASS, older adults and the disabled would be better able to access care in their homes through the creation of national long-term care insurance. Insurance would cover home care, adult day programs, assisted living, or nursing homes. Healthcare is one of the largest costs faced by elders in Pennsylvania.

A toll-free number (800 958-5374) has been set up to run from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm Eastern time. Feel free to use the sample phone script below. To learn more about the CLASS Act, please visit the AAHSA's page on the CLASS Act.

Hello. I am calling to ask Senator _________ to contact Sen. Harry Reid and urge him to make sure that the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) provisions are included in the final health care reform legislation. People need help accessing the long-term services and supports required to remain independent and at home. I thank Senator ________ in advance for the support, and I look forward to a response.
